Here are some local squid fishing piers in the Puget Sound area. Please email us if you have any questions!

Bremerton

Bremerton Ferry Terminal - Squid fishing at the Bremerton Ferry terminal can be very productive all year. There is plenty of space at this squid fishing location. The pier has lights, but some people still bring their own, more powerful light source. Many squid anglers are seen here during the Bremerton Blackberry Festival in the month of August catching a bucketfull during daylight hours as well throughout the winter months. Beware of the submerged obstacles that catch your squid jigs! Directions: From Tacoma - Take Highway 16 West which will turn into Highway 3 at Gorst. Take the Kitsap Way exit. Right on Kitsap Way (you will now be heading Southeast on Kitsap Way). Drive approximately 1 mile on Kitsap Way util it turns into 6th Avenue - Stay on 6th Avenue. Right on Pacific (approx. 1 mile to Pacific once Kitsap Way turns into 6th Ave.) Turn down 2nd or 3rd Ave. and park. you will need to walk to the ferry terminal fishing pier from here, or pay to park at the dock by driving one block east to Washington Street (follow the Ferry signs and don't get in the ferry line!). To find the fishing pier, walk to the passenger only dock. The fishing pier is to the left (North) of the passenger ferry terminal.

Illahee Pier- This is a community pier to be fished by Illahee community members and it closes at 10 p.m. The pier contains a wonderfully bright light that can be shared by all. This pier fills up quickly so get there early. Directions: If you live in Illahee and you're coming from work in Tacoma, drive West on Highway 16 which turns into highway 3 at Gorst (heading North now on highway 3). Take Kitsap Way exit. Right on Kitsap Way. Left on 11th Street. Left on Warren Avenue. Right on Sylvan. Left at Illahee Road (the Second Four-Way stop). The Illahee Pier is approximately 1 mile on your right hand side. It is dark and difficult to see at nght. You can identify it easier if you look for an abandonded gas station (the Illahee Market) on your left. The Illahee Pier is directly to your right down a long parking lot. **If you are coming from North of Bremerton, head South on highway 3, take the Kitsap Way exit. Left on Kitsap way. Left on 11th Street. Left on Warren Avenue. Right on Sylvan. Left at Illahee Road (the Second Four-Way stop). The Illahee Pier is approximately 1 mile on your right hand side. Brownsville Marina- This is another wonderful Bremerton Squid Fishing dock. Tons of space to squid fish from. While there are lights there, the lights tend to be a bit dull and are orange color. I recommend bringing your own light source. You will find plenty of squid at this pier. OH, and please stop by the Brownsville Marina and Deli for a hot cup of coffee, hot coco or a wonderfully tasty cup of soup. The Brownsville Marina also sells fishing tackle (squid jigs!) and other necessities. Wonderful owners and a local hot spot. Directions: From Tacoma - West on Highway 16 which turns into highway 3 at Gorst (heading North now on highway 3). Take Kitsap Way exit. Right on Kitsap Way. Left on 11th Street. Left on Warren Avenue (Warren Avenue will turn into Wheaton Way/Hwy. 303). Right onto Brownsville Highway. Right on Ogle Road. The Brownsville Marina and Deil is straight ahead. Park in the Marina Parking lot to your right hand side. Access to the marina pier is behind the deli. From North Kitsap - Take the Exit toward Hwy 303/East Bremerton (the Silverdale/Kitsap Mall exit). Right on Clear Creek Rd. Right on Waaga Way/Hwy. 303. Left onto Brownsville Hwy. NE. Right onto Ogle Rd. The Brownsville Marina and Deil is straight ahead. Park in the Marina Parking lot to your right hand side. Access to the marina pier is behind the deli.

Port Orchard

Waterman Pier-This is a productive squid fishing pier closer to Tacoma than the Bremerton piers, yet just as productive. Plenty of lighting. This squid fishing pier lacks adequate parking. Either get to Waterman early, say 1/2 hour prior to sunset, or plan on parking on the side of the road which is risky and unsafe given the two lane, narrow and windy condition of the road the pier is located on. Also, drive a short vehicle to the pier. The parking spaces provided are short and a Ford F-150 will have its bumper in the road if parked correctly at Waterman Pier. Directions: From Tacoma-West on Hwy. 16. Take (approx. 24 miles from Tacoma city center). Take the Old Clifton Rd. Exit. Right onto Tremont St. Left onto Port Orchard Blvd. Right onto Bay Street (Visit Bay Street Outfitters while on Bay Street!). Follow Bay Street as it curves around the Bay. Follow the signs to Retsil (this is where Retsil Dock is, another squid fishing pier!). Bay Street changes names several times before it gets to Waterman Pier. Stay on this road. Waterman Pier is approx. 4-5 miles north of downtown Port Orchard (if someone has better mileage markers and street names past Bay Street, please email us.). From North Kitsap - Head South on Hwy. 3 which turns into Hwy. 16 in Gorst.
